Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer
We have an immediate need for an experienced Supplier Quality Assurance professional. This is a ground floor career opportunity to take ownership of this area of responsibility and grow with the company.
The ideal candidate would have solid experience in supplier and contract manufacturer quality assurance program implementation and management, specific experience with suppliers/manufacturers in Asia and Mexico and other international locations, and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced, evolving new business environment with tight deadlines and aggressive growth. SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Plan, implement, and direct the Supplier Quality Program to ensure production of products meets all technical requirements and corporate quality goals.
- Responsible for the technical management of contract manufacturers/suppliers including sub-tier suppliers.
- Introduction of new production, managing Change Control, distribution and interpretation of specification and drawings, and assurance that all requirements are met.
- Key Leader in resolution of Supplier related technical issues whether discovered in the field, in manufacturing or at other points in the Supply Chain.
- Interface closely with R&D and Product Engineering, participating in product design, manufacturability evaluations, product specification analysis, field performance feedback, and other activities to improve the quality, performance, and manufacturability of existing and new products.
- Maintain regular visits and/or communication with Supply Base to address and resolve any quality, process or quality issues in real-time.
- Travels regularly to manufacturers and suppliers, domestic & international, interfacing with supplier senior operations management to: perform First Article Inspections and approvals; monitor production and quality efforts; oversee inspection and acceptance testing; and evaluate and resolve quality problems, defects, and failures. Perform Process Control Audits to verify control plans, process flows and process control validation activities.
- Plan, implement and direct the Installation Quality Program to ensure that the company’s installation Quality Assurance standards and goals are achieved.
- Establish & maintain system of measurements & metrics to continually monitor measurable supplier performance. Track, analyze, and report on quality assurance goals and performance.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
Requirements:
- 7 – 10 years of previous Supplier Quality Engineer experience Required, with increasing responsibilities in Procurement, Quality Assurance, and/or in the field of Supplier Quality Engineering, Manufacturing and/or Process Engineering in a contract manufacturing environment. Must have good interpersonal and excellent organizational skills.
- Must have supplier, product, and process validation experience. Able to perform PPAP, and complete thorough audits of Supplier Quality systems.
- BS is desired but not required. ASQ recognition as a Certified Quality Engineer and/or ISO 9000 Auditing experience is desirable.
- Experience using process data to monitor and improve manufacturing, test processes or other projects as assigned. Experience in defining and performing measurements and inspections of purchased materials, modules & components, using highly accurate manual and/or automatic measurement tools.
- Expertise in interpretation of technical drawings, specification, and Industry Standards (AQC, IPC, Mil Specs, ANSI, ASTM, etc.) and knowledge of change control methods and processes is a must.
- Must have experience with international contract manufacturers. A current passport and ability to travel domestically and internationally is required.
- Knowledge of plastic molding and extrusion processes, metal stampings, electronics assembly, and PCBs is desirable.
- Must have strong computer skills and familiarity with Word, Excel and Access.
- Ability to speak Spanish would be a real plus but is not required.
